Iodine

Iodine is an essential nutrient in the body for normal growth and development.  More then half of the Iodine in your body is stored and processed in the thyroid gland.  Iodine plays a major role in normal functioning of thyroid glands, allowing the thyroid to screte hormones that control the basic metabolic rate of the body. Iodine controls the functioning of these glands, which has a significant influence on your metabolic processes.  

Correct Iodine levels lead to strong utilization of calories, preventing storage of excess fats.  Iodine also helps in the removal of toxins from the body and assistance in utilizing other nutrients such as calcium and silicon.

The deficiency of Iodine can be very detrimental to human health and growth.  Some symptoms include frustration, depression, poor perception levels, abnormal weight gain, and even decreased fertility and chances of still birth in expectant mothers.
